Why do we electrical PAT test?
The legal requirement for electrical PAT testing comes from the Electricity at Work Regulations. This requires employers to maintain "electrical systems" at work to prevent any danger. Electrical systems refer to the installation as well as all the appliances connected to it. A qualified electrician should normally inspect the installation at periodic intervals.
Our qualified engineers use high specification test equipment (Seaward europa plus and Prime 350) capeable of meeting all of the tests you need including the IET code of practice conditions.
On appointment we will come into your workplace and systematically carryout all of your testing requirements, each appliance testsed shall have it's own bar code label, tag and report. We send you a certificate of conformity and a full history of each individual item. Equally on request we can store your details electronically so that our contract customers can have access to their appliance history over the duration of it's working life. This provides essential audit trails for visiting inspectors/enforcers of the regulations.
Which products do we need to electrical PAT test?
Basically, anything that can be moved has to be maintained. The reason for this is that most of the damage occurs to the power cord or the plug and the chances of this happening are higher if the appliance can be moved. So one has to electrical PAT test fridge freezers, washing machines etc. even though they are not "portable".
Of course items that are handheld, such as drills, hair dryers etc. can suffer damage more easily. For this reason they are maintained more frequently than stationary items such as fridge freezers.
